Carl Betteridge passes his 8th NICEIC Assessment | ET-L

We are super proud to announce that one of our Directors, Carl Betteridge, has passed his NICEIC Assessment for the 8th time! This is a huge milestone that highlights his and our ongoing commitment to safe, reliable and high-quality electrical services. In this blog, we chat with Carl about the process, what keeps him motivated and why this achievement matters to ET-L.
How does it feel to have completed it (for the 8th time!)?
Our NICEIC assessment is a major part of the business. Without the credentials we hold, we simply couldn’t move forward with many of the contracts and projects we take on. So yes – passing for the 8th time as a great achievement and something we’re all extremely proud of.
What was the most challenging part of the assessment process?
I’d say there isn’t just one challenge, really. Our industry is moving forward quickly with new technologies and renewable energies, so you always need to stay ahead of the curve. With the right training and knowledge, everything falls into place.
What do you think this qualification adds to your work and to ET-L overall?
NICEIC certification is a mark of quality and reliability. It significantly enhances a business’s reputation and increases opportunities across the industry.
What motivated you to go for this qualification?
Motivation has always been there for me – it was really about stepping into new roles within the business. Kevin used to be the QS, but like any other Director, you eventually need to start delegating responsibilities because you simply can’t do everything yourself. I was approached by Kevin to take on the role, and I saw it as an honourable moment. Being asked to handle such an important part of the company meant a great deal to me.
Any advice for other electricians considering taking the assessment?
Do it – it only enhances your skill set and knowledge. I remember my first assessment; I couldn’t sleep, constantly thinking about what was going to happen. But afterwards, you realise that, with the correct qualifications and training, it’s simply what you do day in and day out.
